Zoo's Working Together
There is an organization called American Association of Zookeepers also known as AAZK. This is a professional organization where dedicated animal care workers, staff, and volunteers from zoo's and other animal organizations, come together to promote public awareness, animal care, nutrition, and conservation, through fundraising. AAZK help communicate and educate one another about animal care through workshops, conferences, newsletters and internet forums.
AAZK has almost 100 chapters affiliated with zoos around the United States and Canada. Chicago has two chapters. Brookfield, and Lincoln Park. These chapters are a non-profit organization who are committed to working together for a good cause.
Brookfield AAZK Spaghetti Dinner
Brookfield AAZK Spaghetti Dinner to help raise money for Vital Grounds. Horror Host Svengoolie was our special guest. He has supported many animal organizations and zoos.
Wolf Research
Below are photos from when I study the behavior of wolves. I went to many workshops and seminars, and got hands on experience with many wolves. I also study wolves side by side with wolf biologist and have tracked wolves in the wild. I will be adding more pics soon.
Volunteer Work for a Special Project
Below is a life size polar bear statue painted by me and a few other volunteers from Brookfield Zoo. It took us several months to work on this project. We designed the bear, giving our guest a special message. One side of the bear has animals from all over the world, and from the sky, land and sea. There is also a boy sitting by the tree. This represents humans living peacefully with animals. The other side of the bear, is dedicated to the life of a polar bear as we hope to see it in the future, with ice to walk on in search of food where he will never go hungry.
The polar bear statue is currently on display at the Riverside Public Library In Riverside IL.
