Reviews for Katie The Elephant
“Katie The Elephant” by Anna Grob puts the peril being experienced by elephants into a clear and simple story to help children (and their parents) understand. Katie is a baby elephant living in a herd. The book, with its wonderful illustrations, explains the matriarchal social structure of the family. It also highlights the many fascinating physical characteristics of elephants. This book helps the reader see what gentle and intelligent creatures that elephants are. But at the same time, show how vulnerable they are to poaching and the illegal ivory trade. Having recently visited an elephant orphanage in Kenya, I have seen first-hand many “Katies” who were scared and suffering traumatic injuries both physical and psychological. Just like in the book, the foster care given to them puts them on the road to recovery and gives them a second chance. “Katie The Elephant” will help children and adults alike understand the endangered status of elephants and the need for conservation.

Katie The Elephant, is a charming book for children. My kids fell in love with Katie immediately. The book explains the real threats elephants face in the wild with the ever growing poaching and pet trade. Baby elephants are effected too when they are taken away from their families. We encourage anyone who wants to learn about elephants, to get a copy of this book. You will not be disappointed.
